In Part 1 of this paper (September 2016 issue of les Nouvelles) the extent to which a university IP policy was binding upon university staff was considered. In Part 2 (December 2016 issue of les Nouvelles), that question was considered in relation to students.

Part 3 concludes this series by considering the question of the extent to which a university IP policy is binding upon a visiting scientist, that is, a scientist employed by one university (the employer university) who visits and undertakes research at another university (the host university)

International Technology Transfer – Licensing and ADR

Organized by LES Italy together with the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center, the conference aims to bring together European and international LES speakers from industry, research organizations and legal practice to present their extensive experience at the frontline of IP licensing and technology transfer in different fields (mechanical, sport goods, internet of things ect.); it also promotes the understanding of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) options in international IP and in particular technology licensing disputes.

Already over 25 participants have registered for the LES Benelux Licensing Course 2017. The course will be held at the historic Faculty Club in Leuven (BE) on 13 and 14 November 2017.

During two days participants will follow the path of drafting an agreement from start till finish. The course includes presentations relating to key aspects of Licensing Practice such as IP Basics, Due Diligence, Valuation and Competition Law as well as participative workshops on negotiation, IP strategy and agreement drafting.

We are now planning the topics and meetings for next year, so it is not too late to suggest a topic or theme you would like to see being either all or part of a meeting.
